Alison Fitzgerald, BS Mechanical
Engineering '90
Managing Director, Lotsoff

"I continue to be involved
with YSEA because I strongly believe the science and
engineering programs are crucial to Yale's academic
curriculum. My experience in engineering at Yale is
something I value and I want others to have the
opportunity to have a similar rewarding experience. YSEA
makes this possible through their support of the
undergraduate program and involvement in the Yale
community." |

Elie Track, MS Physics, '85, PhD

Senior Partner, HYPRES, Inc.
"My years at Yale taught me, far beyond the
academics and the research, the true practical
perspectives and skills for making significant and
lasting impact in my field and on society. By joining
and being active in YSEA I hope to reach out to current
and prospective Yale students to contribute to a great
tradition of service. The camaraderie and networking
that come with YSEA are the frosting on the cake."

"The Perspectives on Science
Program at Yale gave me a greater appreciation for the
importance of an interdisciplinary approach to
scientific problem solving. As a member of YSEA, I hope
to help encourage more Yale students to explore the many
ways to make a positive impact on society through
science – whether through research, business, medicine
or policy."

Tom Cole, BS Computer Science

General Partner, Trinity Ventures
"As a Yale College alum who majored in computer
science, I'd love to see Yale continue to excel in
sciences and engineering. To that end, I joined YSEA to
support the wonderful programs and mentorship it
provides to students pursuing those fields."

Leah Barton, BS Chemical

"YSEA's support of Team Lux, the
Yale Solar Car Team, was crucial in shaping my
undergraduate experience. YSEA's sponsorship allowed
team members to develop real-world engineering and
leadership skills while also fostering life-long
friendships. Today, I support YSEA so that it can
continue to promote student innovation in a world
relying ever more on scientific thinking."

John Siemon, MS Engineering and
Applied Science, '90
Vice President and CTO, The
Siemon Company
"I joined YSEA after graduating
as a way of staying in touch with the school. I kept
renewing because I like the Yale Scientific magazine.
Having recently been contacted by a board member
regarding an open position for Regional Vice President,
I found myself attending the 2007 Annual Meeting. At the
dinner that followed, I was fortunate to be at the same
table as Peter Dervan, recipient of the Award for
Advancement of Basic and Applied Science. It provided an
opportunity to share experiences, observations and wild
ideas in a relaxed, spontaneous exchange that engaged
everyone at the table. Having had the opportunity to
meet and hear Professor Dervan speak in such an intimate
setting was a singular experience that only YSEA could
provide."
