Support the Foundation
Like all non-profits, the Yale Alumni Chorus Foundation depends heavily on the generosity of its Members and friends as well as much-appreciated help of other philanthropic organizations and businesses that support its mission and goals. The rapid evolution of the Foundation from an all-volunteer organization to a professionally staffed, 501(c)3 tax-exempt entity has created and continues to provide significant financial challenges. Because of the generous support received, the Foundation has been able to realize its ambitious goals on a solid financial basis in each year of its short existence.

Background
Since the inception of the Foundation, Members have been the principal source of its funding. Tour and event participation fees, the largest single source of income to the Foundation, are funded by Members themselves, and are used, together with partial allocations of Member dues and contributions, to fully finance mission-related tour and event expenditures. Members also make special donations of financial assistance funds to enable broader participation in tours. Sources and uses of funds for Foundation activities are shown in the charts below:

Endowment
In early 2007 the Foundation created The Gift of Song Endowment, designed to augment ongoing income in support of the Foundation’s core functions. These include the cost of operating and staffing the Foundation office, and database and webpage maintenance. As it grows, the Endowment will also provide a tool for further expanding funds directed to outreach, financial assistance, commissioning of new music, and such other mission-related activities as the Board may approve from time to time.
Planned Giving
The Foundation will be glad to work with donors to implement attractive tax-beneficial mechanisms for planned giving, including bequests.
