Please join the Yale Club of Nevada for the presentation of the Yale Book Award and Academic Achievement Awards.

Every year, Yale Clubs around the country present the Yale Book Award to high school juniors who demonstrate outstanding personal character and intellectual promise. In that tradition, the Yale Club of Nevada will present Academic Achievement Awards to students nominated by their schools in addition to awarding the Yale Book Award to three of the selected students.

Topic: From Information Consumption to Knowledge Production: Information Literacy for a Knowledge Economy

Featured Speaker

Patricia Iannuzzi

Patricia Iannuzzi, dean of UNLV Libraries, is an international leader in information literacy — the ability to discover, access, and use information effectively for research and lifelong learning. She chaired the national task force that established information standards for student learning: Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education.

The author of several books and articles, Iannuzzi speaks and consults worldwide on the topics of information literacy, research-based learning, and 21st century competencies. She has worked with higher education institutions in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Mexico, and the Netherlands. In 2005, she was an invited speaker on the topic of 21st Century Literacies in Stockholm during Nobel Prize Week.

Iannuzzi is also a consultant for the American Association of Colleges and Universities and for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. She works with colleges and universities that are implementing undergraduate education reform — something she is working on with colleagues at UNLV as well.

Prior to coming to UNLV in 2005, Iannuzzi worked in libraries at the University of California, Berkeley; Florida International University; Tufts University; and Yale University. She has a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a master’s degree in information science from Simmons College.
