The Yale Bowl

Yale

Most Yalies think of the Yale Bowl as the football stadium a short bus ride from the Yale campus, where students would go to root for the Bulldogs, march with the Yale Precision Marching Band, dance the Saybrook Strip, and cheer that "JE SUX!" or "P is for the P in Pierson College."

The Yale Club of Montclair gives another Yale Bowl: our award to distinguished Yale alumni, from New Jersey and around the world. The 1999 Bowl recipient is football star, minister, and community activist Calvin Hill '69.

Mr. Hill, a star player for the Bulldogs, went on to earn the Rookie of the Year award in 1969. One of the greatest players ever to play for the Dallas Cowboys, Mr. Hill's career has seen two Super Bowls and four Pro Bowls. He has also played with the Washington Redskins and the Cleveland Browns. After retiring as a player, Mr. Hill continued to actively promote athletics among America's youth. He sits on the boards of, among other organizations, Toys-R-Us and the March of Dimes.

For information on nominating alumni to receive the Yale Bowl, please contact David Inkeles '59.
