Yale College Cyclists Coming to Town!

The Habitat Bicycle Challenge (HBC) will arrive from Amery, Wisconsin on the afternoon of Saturday, June 30 and leave for Hutchinson, Minnesota on Monday morning July 2!

If you'd like to ride in to Minneapolis with them, we have directions from trip leader Marc Bush right here.

from the Challenge web site

This group of 29 college students is riding from New Haven to Vancouver to raise funds for the Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven. Each student raises a minimum of $3,500 for Habitat before beginning the trip. Corporate support, and the help of churches, community centers and organizations like the YAANW help along the route, so that most of the money raised by students goes directly to Habitat for Humanity. HBC is the largest fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven. The funds raised by these college students has enabled the New Haven Habitat to grow from building one house at a time in 1994, to as many as four homes at a time!

The cyclists average 70 miles a day, with only six days out of the saddle. On three of those days, the riders work at local Habitat for Humanity construction sites. The Twin Cities is the halfway point on their 4,000-mile ride. July 2 will be their first true day off in 29 days!
