YAANW Book Group Discussions
by Kate Sandweiss, ’79, SOM ’87
Over fifty people are now receiving regular notification by E-mail or postcard about the monthly YAANW Book Group discussions! This program has evolved over the past several years into an inexpensive, intellectually and socially stimulating way to get together with fellow graduates of Yale.
Both men and women are invited to the Book Group. You may attend when a book being discussed particularly interests you, or on a regular basis. Books are selected several months in advance and range in genre, based on participants' recommendations and interest. Current participants range from their twenties to their sixties and come from a range of backgrounds. They are representative of graduate schools as well as Yale College. Given the variety in peoples' professional and personal experiences, the discussions are wide-ranging, interesting and fun. In order to minimize the costs to participants and make this a self-sustaining program, participants take turns in providing a living room to meet in, and all who attend bring a snack to share.
