Welcome

Welcome to the Yale Club of Israel.  Founded in 1984, the Yale Club of Israel's unique character is defined by its membership, most of whom moved to Israel from the USA.   Numbering over 200 former college, graduate and professional school students and faculty, the alumni in Israel are diverse in their interests and lifestyles, yet are unified by their shared experience at Yale University and commitment to Israel . The Yale Club of Israel continues Yale University's tradition of welcoming the new, while respecting the established, reflected in the club's aim to host and assist all members of the Yale community whether in Israel to visit or stay.

Upon arriving in Israel, all those affiliated with Yale are automatically considered Club members and are encouraged to participate in events and activities.  Throughout the year these include gatherings held specifically to allow visiting Yale groups and alumni living in Israel to share ideas and experiences.  Other events have ranged from a private tour of the Bahai gardens in Haifa to an evening at the world's only Gallery for International Naive Art based in Tel Aviv, talks from visiting Yale faculty, a professional basketball game featuring a Yale Alum on a local professional team, wine tasting evenings, to what we hope is now an annual event – a concert by club members who are professional and semi-professional musicians performing for alumni from Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Barnard, MIT, Bryn Mawr and other schools almost like Yale. To be as inclusive as possible, modest dues are recommended but not required for our resident club members.

Pursuant to our aim of increasing the connections among alumni worldwide, during their leisure and business trips, Club members visit sister Clubs around the world interested in hearing first hand about life in Israel.  Any clubs or individuals interested in participating can contact the International Club Project Coordinator, David Mirchin '80 dmirchin@meitar.com.

We welcome new ideas for events in Israel and ways of strengthening ties to Yale.  Please feel free to contact me with any thoughts you may have.

Faithfully Yours,

Carice Witte BK '83
