MembershipA Letter from Yale Club of Chicago President Audry Rubin Dear Member of the Yale community in Chicago: As summer winds to a close and a new season of activity begins, we hope you will join us for the upcoming year with the Yale Club of Chicago. Whether you are interested in meeting or staying connected to Yale alumni through social, educational and career-networking events and services, interviewing applicants, serving as a public school tutor, raising scholarship funds, supporting community service fellowships for current Yale undergrads here in Chicago, hosting or attending receptions with notable Yalies, connecting with Chicago-area Young Alumni, Asian American Alumni, and Black Alumni organizations, or attending family-friendly events for alums with young children -- the Yale community in the Chicago area is increasingly active and vibrant and will be even more so with your involvement. In recognition of the challenging economic environment, WE HAVE DECIDED TO REDUCE THE BASIC DUES AMOUNT! Please see the membership renewal form or register online using the drop down menu at the bottom of this page. Dues-paying Members also will receive substantial discounts to Yale Club events throughout the year and be invited to certain Members-only special events. Now is the perfect time to renew or to become a first-time Member! Last year we had a number of fun, educational, and illuminating events involving sports, arts, history, the economy and the environment, among others, and this year promises to be even more exciting. Here are just a few highlights for the upcoming year. We will soon begin our second year of The Yale Connection, a monthly networking series of conversations with prominent Yale personalities. The inaugural year of this series was very successful, bringing together diverse communities of Yalies. This year's gatherings will take place at Petterino's on Randolph (near Dearborn), at 5:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. Later this fall, the Club will be continuing its annual tradition of hosting a closed circuit telecast of The Game. Mark your calendars for November 21st, and details will follow. And we are delighted to announce that Chicago will host Yale's 2010 Redpath Seminar. This one-day program next spring will feature several distinguished Yale faculty guiding us through an exploration of "The American Presidency." The program travels to a different city each year, and we look forward to having this truly special Yale event in our home town. We will provide Yale Club Members with Redpath Seminar details as they become available, or you may contact edtravel@yale.edu. When you fill out your membership, please let us know if you would like to help plan events or engage in the many sponsored community service and other Yale Club activities. For example, you can join a dedicated group of alumni who serve as weekly tutors at The Elihu Yale Elementary School on Chicago's south side. In sum, the Yale Club of Chicago is actively working to provide you with more innovative and diverse educational, networking and social opportunities than ever and to help our Yale community here in Chicago be even more supportive of our Alma Mater and our city. Renew or join today, either online using the drop-down menu below, or by printing and mailing the membership renewal form with a check or credit card information. And thank you for joining us and making Yale-in-Chicago a vibrant endeavor! Sincerely,
Audrey Rubin President
