Help Support Science and Arts Education at the Elihu Yale Elementary School!

For the past 15 years the Yale Club of Chicago has had a presence at the Elihu Yale Elementary School (www.elihuyale.org) located in the south side Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. Yale University graduates of all ages and degrees have volunteered their time to tutor K-8, inner city, economically disadvantaged children at the school.

You can help further and enhance their education by making a donation to the school for the purchase of science educational supplies or to enable the school to pay for an innovative arts workshop through the not-for-profit organization Art Resources in Teaching ("A.R.T."). Below you will find the Elihu Yale Elementary School wish list for science supplies as well as information regarding the A.R.T. workshop.

Once you have reviewed this information please go to www.helpcps.org/onlinedonations to make your donation. In the first donation designation box please indicate that your donation is to benefit the Elihu Yale Elementary School, and in the second box please indicate whether your donation should be used to purchase science supplies or the A.R.T. workshops. Your donation through the CPS External Affairs & Partnerships website will be processed through the Children First Fund (CPS’ 501c3 organization) and is tax deductible.

Thank you for your continued and generous support of the Elihu Yale Elementary School!

A.R.T.

Your A.R.T. donation will enable the school to pay for two days of workshops through A.R.T., a Chicago based not-for-profit organization that provides visual arts residency programs to school children in the Chicago area. The cost is $800 for two days.

From the A.R.T. website: "A.R.T. Teaching-Artists make art come alive for students and teachers by establishing connections between academic subjects and the visual arts with lively discussions, slide presentations, and hands-on art projects. Students learn about the relationship of art to history, culture, and creative expression through media such as painting, sculpture, photography, and others. Residencies range in length from one-day workshops to sixteen session residencies and are designed to address Chicago Academic Standards and Frameworks and IL State Goals and build children's capacity for creative thinking." For more information about A.R.T. please visit their website at www.artresourcesinteaching.org.
