Xin Chunying

Professor Xin is the Director of the Institute of Law at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, China's leading legal research body. She is one of China's leading younger legal scholars and is an important figure in legal reform in China.

She has written on a wide range of subjects, ranging from judicial reform to the role of law in economic development. Among her many writings, she is the author of the book, Chinese Legal System and Current Legal Reform.

Professor Xin was a Senior Visiting Scholar at Yale Law School in the fall term 1999, and the Law School's China Law Center is working closely with her Institute on a variety of legal reform issues. She has lectured widely around the world. To the "Law and China's Future" forum she will bring particular expertise on legal reform in mainland China.
