Fung, SC
Mr. Fung is Senior Counsel of the Hong Kong Bar, specializing in commercial, corporate and public law. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1990, the youngest member of the Hong Kong Bar to be so appointed.
From 1994 to 1998 he was Solicitor General of Hong Kong, and in that position oversaw the Hong Kong Government's legal policy both before and after Hong Kong's reversion to Chinese sovereignty. He also regularly represented the Hong Kong Government in major constitutional litigation.
In addition to his private practice, he is the President of the China Law Council and a director of the Hong Kong Securities & Futures Commission, and is actively engaged in a wide variety of other public service activities.
Mr. Fung was a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Yale Law School in 1999. To the "Law and China's Future" panel discussion he will bring particular expertise on law in Hong Kong as an aspect of Hong Kong-mainland interactions.
