| U.S. University Family Sports Day 2003
"We all had a fantastic time representing Yale at the all-day affair. We were fortunate to have stupendous weather, clear blue skies and moderate temperatures as we competed for Eli along the harbor at the Stanley Ho Stadium in Pokfulam." "You will be pleased to note that Yale placed second in the total, barely losing out to our sponsors MIT. It should be noted that MIT fielded a very large team for their home field event. In fact, had we had just a wee more participation from our club members, we surely would have brought the cup back to New Haven!" "Nevertheless, in addition to a very respectable second place, we had a fantastic time. Events for the day included ping pong in a spoon race, a three-legged race, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, and the showcase event, a tug of war with a 100-foot rope. Participants from Yale included Caroline Van and family, including two very dexterous children (future Yale athletic scholars?); Engin Yenidunya, who in addition to helping out with registration, gave an even bigger boost to our tug of war efforts; the Weisman family; and yours truly. I'm glad I participated and will hope to be involved again next year!"
