President's Letter

Jonathan M. Jenkins ‘94 President Yale Club of Southern California	Welcome to the Yale Club of Southern California!  If you’re a current member, thanks for your continued support of the second-largest Yale Club in the nation.  If you’re just visiting, please consider joining today!  You’ll gain access to dozens of phenomenal YCSC events each year.  And your membership dues allow us to keep bringing you the highest-quality events. The YCSC owes its success to the dedication and hard work of its officers, directors, and members.  Past President Kevin Winston ‘89 continues at the helm of YCSC’s Yale in Hollywood division – and their events are a Who’s Who of the Los Angeles entertainment industry.  Membership Secretary and lawyer/entrepreneur Parag Patel ‘93 oversaw the migration of our entire membership database to the Go Club system, allowing you to sign up for events with the ease of a single click.  Treasurer Christopher Hill ’99, when he’s not closing ten-figure real estate deals, keeps our finances in order.  Vice-President Tanya Loh ’00 is our action figure behind the scenes.  Young Alum Coordinator Jennifer Anderson has hosted events at every hip hangout in town – don’t be surprised to see Wolfgang Puck come running out of the kitchen to bring her a complimentary bottle of Cristal. Webmaster Blair Golson ’01 keeps the site full up with invites and pictures. Just as at Yale, there’s something at the YCSC for everyone.  Spend a few moments combing through our past events gallery.  You’ll find wine tastings with Eli winemakers, Yale & Law panels with justices from the Ninth Circuit, cigar nights, performance potlucks, and paintball competitions.  Yale professors have given lectures to our members on everything from black holes to The Da Vinci Code. The most common question I’m asked: where IS the YCSC?  Don’t we have a sprawling clubhouse with banquet facilities and a private gym, like the Yale Club of New York? The answer: no, at least not yet.  It’s something we consider from time to time.  But for now we’re perfectly happy and self-sufficient as a virtual community.
