Perez screens films leading up
to "Skinny Betty"

March 13, 2007

HOLLYWOOD HILLS - Filmmaker Hugo Perez stopped by during his visit from New York to share several films revolving around Latino culture.  He described how his Cuban upbringing influences his films, which fuse elements of both Latin and American culture.

Hugo presented his HBO award-winning and airing short Betty la Flaca as well as scenes from his work in progress documentary In the Footsteps of Orpheus which tells the story of the Hungarian poet Miklos Radnoti who was killed in the Holocaust. For more info about his work visit: www.m30afilms.com

Our discussion afterwards included thoughts on Latinos in TV and movies.

Thanks to Hugo for presenting, and to the Yale SOM students in media and entertainment who joined us on their spring break tour of LA.
