Shark Tale Art and Animation Chat
October 19, 2004
HOLLYWOOD HILLS - Alums celebrated Shark Tale's swimming success with a chat about the film's art and animation. Shark Tale ranked #1 at the weekend box office in its first three weeks, making more than $119 million.

We were honored to have a Yale couple that helped make the film join us to discuss the film's art design and animation process.
Doug Rogers was set designer on Shark Tale, Art Director for Shrek. His wife, Susan Slagle-Rogers, was animation supervisor.
Doug and Susan discussed various aspects of the art behind the film. Doug highlighted his work designing the look and feel of the reef-like city.
Susan discussed managing the animation team, and working to make sure that creative concepts worked within the budget.

At the end of the talk, attendees received free Shark Tale gift bags with goodies including an activity book, hat, and rain jacket (perfect, because it rained that day!). The gift bags are courtesy of Yalie Walter Parkes, head of Dreamworks.
Thanks to Doug and Susan for spending the evening with us. And thanks to Walter Parkes and his office for the Shark Tale gift bags!
