A hosted event at the Santa Barbara Club. 1) Presentation of the Yale Book Awards to outstanding high school juniors; 2) presentation of the Club Recognition Award to James Stotter, '51 B.A., '54 LL.B.; 3) a slide show and book signing by Stephen Harrison, '81 M.D., featuring his book "Whispered Prayers: Portraits and Prose of Tibetans in Exile."
February 4, 2000: "Dinner first, then Architecture." An illustrated lecture on Cities and Citizenship: Public Buildings and Public Space in the Contemporary City by Alan Plattus, Associate Dean and Professor of Architecture and Urbanism at the Yale School of Architecture. At the Santa Barbara City College School of Restaurant Management Dining Room, Santa Barbara. January 5, 2000: The WHIFFENPOOFS sang at Casa Dorinda, in Montecito. November 20, 1999: Fifteen hardcore Yale football fans gathered at Sharkeez Cantina on State Street, to watch the Elis triumph over Harvard in a satellite-TV broadcast of The Game. The win gave Yale a share of the Ivy League title (with Brown!). February 26, 1999: Re-launched the YCSB web site, including updated links of the URLs (web site addresses) of YCSB members. February 15, 1999: Named two new Vice Presidents of the YCSB: Virginia Hopkins, and Ann Plane. January 6, 1999: Yale singing group "Baker's Dozen" performed a concert for YCSB members and guests at e private residence in Montecito. September 8, 1998: U.S. Representative Lois Capps, D-Ca, ('64 MAR) was our guest at a reception in Montecito. May 20, 1998: The YCSB presented five local high school juniors with the prestigious Yale Book Award for outstanding leadership, scholarship and citizenship.. March 24, 1998: "Rocket Science" presentation at Harry's Plaza Cafe by Roy Laubscher (Ph.D. '70). Presentation of the annual AYA Club Recognition Award to Phil Moncharsh, who served as YCSB president from 1992-97. January 6, 1998: Yale women's singing group "Something Extra" performed a concert for the YCSB. The concert was heralded by an article in the YCSB Newsletter, written by Jessica Pfeiffer, describing her experiences as a Santa Barbara native attending Yale. December 10, 1997: publication of the YCSB Newsletter, including articles by former YCSB president Jack Adams, and new YCSB president John Lincoln. November 22, 1997: THE GAME, private telecast for Yale and Harvard fans. |
