45th Reunion Report -- June 2002

Music in Schools Project Report



The meeting included:

  • Introduction - Don Roberts - How and why the project came into being.


  • The importance of music to one classmate - Joe Clayton how music lead him to Yale, what it meant to him at Yale and what it has meant to him since Yale.

  • The New Haven initiative including the proposed tie among ETM and New Haven's Lincoln Basset School and referring to the "due diligence" Bronx school visits last November. - David Mininberg



  • The School of Music's and Yale's perspectives - thoughts on the New Haven initiative (and Yale's close ties with the City of New Haven), the goal of an annual symposium by the School of Music on teaching music in public schools - Paul Hawkshaw, Former Associate Dean of Music
